Do haunted items hold energy? Are mirrors actually a portal to the other side?
I became aware of this haunted object while watching an episode of Ghost Adventures Artifacts (formerly Deadly Possessions). The former owner of a mirror came to Zak Bagans wishing to get rid of it. Her life had been turned upside down by malevolent activity she and her daughter were experiencing. She confided that her uncle had been murdered (by a close friend as she suspects) in front of this mirror and she deeply believes it absorbed the dark energy of the event.
The owner’s daughter also had a traumatic experience with the mirror. She very anxiously explained how a hand reached out to grab her from the mirror and felt as though she had been bitten on the neck while a shadowy figure appeared within it. She also spoke about the nightmares she had, having slept in the same room the mirror resided. On the morning following these terrifying dreams, she would wake up with scratches all over her body.
The owner said that since she couldn’t sell it and couldn’t get rid of it, the haunted museum would be the perfect home for it. Zak Bagans of course, welcomed it inside. (I probably would too, not gonna lie.) Though shortly after accepting the haunted mirror, the basement of the museum flooded unexplainably as he believes the mirror caused this freak occurance. But before Zak got his hands on it, it belonged to a man best linked with Dracula.
Known most famously for his acting role in Bram Stoker’s Dracula and a younger role in Frankenstein, Bela Lugosi is also known to have been interested in the occult, often engaging in the practice of scrying—peering into a reflective surface to see the future. He would often use his mirror (when he wasn’t rehearsing his “I am Dracula” line) for scrying and other occult activites. Most notably, it’s rumored that he gazed into the mirror to try and connect with spirits, like that of his deceased wife.
But something tragic also happened in front of this mirror after Lagosi owned it and before Zak Bagans knew of it. Next, it belonged to Bela’s former lawyer, Frank Saletri. Inside Frank’s home on a night in 1982, he would become the victim to a brutal murder while the mirror sat in the same room. Not one but two known murders have happened in front of this mirror. If dark energy were to be in any object, the mirror of Bela Lagosi would be it.
